Delicious Supercut of Food in Movies Will Leave You Drooling

There’s something special about food movies. Food is (obviously) something we all need, and so films that make a big deal of it scratch some primal itch inside our minds. When food is lovingly portrayed in a movie, it can give us insight into characters and their world better than any line of dialogue.

To celebrate the phenomenon of food in film, YouTube’s Burger Fiction whipped up this hearty culinary supercut!

We’d normally spout off some facts about how many movies are featured in whatever amount of minutes but we’re really just too distracted by the video’s edible beauty. In a lot of these films, like 2000’s Chocolat (that, for the record, is just delightful), 2009’s Julie & Julia, and 2010’s Eat Pray Love, the food plays such a central role it becomes a character. And, whatever your feelings are on raw fish, it’s impossible not to appreciate the hard work and skill put into everything you see in the 2010 documentary Jiro Dreams of Sushi.

However, our favorite might be the way food is filmed in 2014’s Chef. Writer/producer/director Jon Favreau and cinematographer Kramer Morgenthau use food not only to show how much Favreau’s character loves to cook, but his emotional journey through the film. He lazily chomps on a bag of kettle corn with his son at the beginning of the movie and at the end is enjoying authentic New Orleans’ beignets. Plus, it’s a movie that somehow manages to make a pasta dish the most noticeable thing in a scene with a scantily clad Scarlett Johansson.

What’s your favorite movie food scene? Are you still hoping for BTTF’s pizza rehydrator? Dare to make Big Night’s timpano even with Binging With Babish’s tutorial? Let’s “dish” in the comments below!
