Decorate with the Force This Holiday Season

Nothing says the holidays like Yoda Christmas tree lights and an AT-AT lawn ornament, am I right? The past five years have seen great forwards strides in the area of nerdy Christmas decorations. Between fan-made items and officially licensed goods, you can celebrate the holidays with your fandom from stockings to tree toppers. The vast number of ornaments on the market means it is possible to have a tree dedicated entirely to Doctor Who, Game of Thrones, Legend of Zelda, and yes, Star Wars. I’ve poked around the dusty attic that is the internet and found these fantastic Star Wars-themed holiday decorations.

Yoda Keepsake Ornament

Hallmark is known for their detailed and wonderful Star Wars ornaments. It’s equally fun to see what new decorations they release and to browse eBay for ornaments from previous years. This Yoda “peekbuster” design is my favorite of 2014’s offerings; the small Rebel Alliance symbol on the package kills me. The ornament has motion-activated sounds, and Yoda will school anyone who trying to sneak near the presents. He says classic phrases such as, “Peek not. Wait or wait not. There is no peek.”

AT-AT Lawn Ornament

Add an extra touch of Hoth to your yard this month with ThinkGeek’s AT-AT lawn ornament. The resin vehicle is much cooler than a garden gnome and just as festive as an inflatable Santa. This will look great in your yard regardless of whether you have real snow, and you can drape sparkling lights over it to make it extra special.

Imperial Cog Tree Skirt

Hug the base of your Christmas tree with a Star Wars tree skirt from Etsy seller nasakat. They have both Imperial and Rebel designs and sizes range from 36 – 72 inches. Shop owner Kat Melton uses three layers of felt for the skirts, and they’re a great way to add a little touch of Star Wars to your tree.

R2-D2 Christmas Lights

Cover your mantle, bannister, or tree with glowing astromechs! These R2-D2 lights come on a 11.5 feet long strand with ten plastic astromechs. You can only use them indoors, but hey, I’d rather have them inside where I can look at them all the time. You could make these Artoo lights part of a themed tree with blue, red, and silver ornaments and garland. If you’re over astromechs, Yoda lights are also available.

Rebel Pilot Stocking

Stay on target while you’re hanging your stockings by the chimney with care and put up this Rebel Alliance pilot stocking by Etsy seller Needlez N Threadz. The cotton and felt design is 15 inches long so there’s plenty of room for stocking stuffers or coal. If X-wing pilots aren’t your thing, Needlez N Threadz also has stockings inspired by Chewbacca, Boba Fett, Princess Leia, Darth Vader, and more.

Death Star Tree Topper

Feeling crafty this holiday season? You can make a Death Star tree topper with Instructable user craineium’s handy instructions. It lights up and plays music and sound effects and is indeed a fully operational Christmas tree topper. It’s not the most simple of projects but just look at how awesome the result is.

What Star Wars decorations are you displaying this holiday season? Tell me about them in the comments.
