Do you hear that? That’s the sound of sleigh bells, and the sound of my PS4 turning on for some holiday fun. If you haven’t already heard, the holiday season is here and in full swing in the world of Overwatch. Now that Blizzard’s seasonal “Winter Wonderland” event is available on PC, PS4, and Xbox One, it’s the perfect time to get back into the game ahead of the holiday season. For a taste of some of the skins and content on the way, check out the festive trailer at the top of the page.
It’s hard to decide which scene is the best, although I’m pretty partial to watching Zarya hug a giant teddy bear until its head pops off as McCree (donning his best Scrooge attire) watchesâbut that’s just me. There’s also something special about seeing Widowmaker tease opponents with mistletoe then sucker punch them. What a boss!
Over 100 cosmetic items filled with holiday cheer will be delivered via specially wrapped Christmas-themed loot boxes. Like themed boxes from the past, these festive delights can be earned and/or purchased. Each one will contain at least one item from the winter collection. That means you’ll be able to score anything from victory poses, emotes, skins, profile icons, and more. On top of grabbing gear from loot boxes, the items can be unlocked over the course of the event.
Speaking of skins, the ones included are pretty sweet. You’ve got Rudolph Roadhog, Peppermint Sombra, Santaclad Torbjörn, Nutcracker Zenyatta, and Yeti Winston (who is clearly the best). Check them out in the gallery at the bottom of the page.
Aside from those goodies, a new brawl titled “Mei’s Snowball Offensive” hit the game. In the 6v6 single-elimination mode, Mei will be getting some changes. Her Endothermic Blaster will fire one powerful snowball for an impressive one-hit kill. Once you activate her ultimate, the blaster transforms into a snowball launching machine.
Will you be hopping on Overwatch this holiday? Let us know in the comments!
