As a Disney princess, you of course get to live “happily ever after.” It’s part of the deal. That is, of course, until your inevitable death. We like to imagine that each of the Disney princesses lived to a ripe old age with their respective prince charmings, with tons of happy children and grandchildren frolicking about the kingdom, dying hand-in-hand with their handsome consorts at the age of 100.
But what if Snow White, Cinderella, Ariel and the rest met gruesome, ugly deaths at a young age? What if the evil witches who made their lives hell returned from the grave, like Jason Voorhees or Freddy Krueger in the final moments of some horror movie, making sure those annoying do-gooders got what was coming to them?
Now, UK makeup artist Shonagh Scott has shown us what would happen if Disney princesses met the horrible fates that their nemesis had hoped they would, in a new series of pictures she calls Twisted Princesses. Scott has photographed herself as Snow White, Cinderella, Belle from Beauty and the Beast, Ariel from The Little Mermaid, and of course everyone’s current favorite, Elsa from Frozen, all mangled and bloody, and just in time for Halloween.
Each of the princess’ deaths looks to have something to do with their specific character traits, such as poor Snow White succumbing to a poison apple, or Cinderella falling on her glass heel. The Beast seems to have reverted to form and slashed Belle, and Ursula apparently ripped Ariel’s golden throat out. Maybe poor Elsa has it the worst, impaled through the neck with an icicle. Ouch. I guess the cold does bother her after all.
