When it comes to television, director David Slade has been a roll recently: Breaking Bad, Crossbones, Awake and, most notably, the man has served as a key director on NBCâs critical darling, Hannibal. Needless to say, nothing is going to stand between the 30 Days of Night director and success. Thatâs why weâre happy to report that Slade has found his next project, and itâs a fun one.
According to Deadline Hollywood, the director has been tapped to helm the first two episodes of Sony TVâs Powers.
In case youâve been living under a rock, Powers is the comic book adaptation that sat in development hell with FX for years before finally being saved from the jaws of the shelf by none other than Playstation who, in an attempt to compete with Microsoftâs Halo series, is going to use Powers to launch their new brand of original content for the systemâs network.
According to Deadline, âPowers is set in a world full of people with superhuman abilities and where all of those powers are just another catalyst for mayhem and murder. It follows the lives of two homicide detectives, Christian Walker and Deena Pilgrim, who are assigned to protect humans like us and investigate cases involving people with superhuman abilities, referred to as âPowersâ who glide through the sky on lightning bolts and fire and who clash above cities in epic battle, oblivious to the mortals below.â
The series is written by Charlie Huston and currently does not have a premiere date.
