In his more recent work, we know that Dave Chappelle seems to have a strong understanding of HIV, AIDS and the dangers associated with the disease. He at least seems to have compelling theories about its origin, as his bit about the disease coming from monkeys proves. Back in 1990, however, Chappelle played a dangerously clueless young man for one of those mandatory educational videos teachers would show you in school.
Though he doesn’t know much about sexual health, he does know how to tell when a lady is putting out the vibe: he surmised that a girl wanted him because she said, “David, I want you.” But his Sherlockian detective skills seem to end there, because it takes him some time to figure out that having sex with a person infected with HIV or AIDS is a risky proposition. Dave’s friend seems to have no time for mincing words, so he comes right out and said that Dave’s romantic interest is probably using dirty needles to inject drugs and is likely infected.
With zero transition whatsoever, Dave and a couple other youngsters break into a reggae beatbox song about “controlling your Jimmy.” The saddest part of all of this is that the Jimmy number isn’t even the worst song in the video.
Check out the clip above and share it wherever you can, because being aware of how to control your Jimmy–and being aware of Dave Chappelle’s rap skills(?)–is of paramount importance.
