If you’re curious about the Dark Souls II series but still haven’t taken the plunge into the infamously challenging game, this upcoming release might just change your mind. Bandai Namco Games has announced Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin for a smattering of consoles — including Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
The title is headed for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC as well as PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, releasing for Western audiences on April 7, 2015.
It’s being billed as the “complete Dark Souls II experience,†which will include three of the previously released DLC packages: Crown of the Sunken King, Crown of the Old Iron King, and Crown of the Ivory King. Additionally, it will feature brand new NPCs, tweaks to further balance the game, altered item descriptions, and improved matchmaking. You’ll need to supply your own back-up controller in case you smash the first one though.
But if you’ve already got a copy and aren’t interested in trading up for the latest and greatest, there’s an incoming patch that will be available for download to bring existing copies of the game up to speed.
Additionally, the next-gen and PC versions of the games will feature graphical, aural, and performance upgrades as well as an update to the amount of players that can be online in a single session.

Loving DS2, I agree about this announcement being both great and frustating. For me, at least, that bought and completed only the first DLC a few weeks ago.
I’ll give the game a rest until the promised PS3 patchI guess, I usually return to it more eager to play after a while.
This is the least surprising announcement since Ricky Martin came out. I’m just hoping the graphical overhaul they plan on doing realises the original vision for this game, namely the dark areas are actually dark and the torches are a viable item.
I’m probably one of the few people who doesn’t mind this: I didn’t buy Dark Souls II yet, but I was planning on. I think I can wait another couple of months.
I have to agree with the above comment. I just purchased all of the dlc a week ago and now there’s this upgrade. Kind of frustrating :/
This ia great and yet frustrating on so many levels. I knew that a complete version would come out eventually, but I just bought the DLC for ps3! And now it’s gonna be better looking as well?;?!? T.T
The graphics improvement will only be on next gen and PC :p
