The 2013 Tomb Raider reboot was critically acclaimed and embraced by fans along the way to becoming the highest selling game in the franchise. But if youâve been missing the pre-reboot Lara Croft, Dark Horse Comics has you covered.
Ahead of San Diego Comic-Con International, Dark Horse has revealed that the new Lara Croft and the Frozen Omen five issue miniseries will revisit the classic Lara while tying into the Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris and Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light games developed by Crystal Dynamics.
Invisible Republic co-writer Corinna Bechko will script Frozen Omen alongside Randy Green (Witchblade). Green was also one of the artists on Top Cowâs Tomb Raider comic book series several years ago.
The storyline of Lara Croft and the Frozen Omen finds the title character once again teaming up with Carter Bell as they race to find a series of ivory artifacts before a doomsday cult can get their hands on them.
Bechko also hinted that the supernatural aspects of classic Lara Croftâs world will once again be in play during the Frozen Omen miniseries.
“I always like my characters to exist in a world that isnât just composed of humans,” noted Bechko. “This time around sheâll have to contend with some rather elemental (sometimes literally) monsters as well as the more common bipedal variety.”
Lara Croft and the Frozen Omen # 1 will hit comic book stores on October 7.
