Dark Horse Announces Exclusive Wondercon Variant Covers

Dark Horse Comics, purveyors of fine graphic literature and general badassery, are big fans of giving convention-goers a little something special, and next week’s Wondercon is no exception. In fact, the publisher has announced two exclusive variant covers for some of their popular books featuring art from some of today’s best cover artists, as well as three other convention-exclusive issues produced in limited edition.

The two variant covers are from the Buffyverse. First, the inaugural issue of Buffy the Vampire Slayer Season 10 gets a new cover by Tomb Raider art director Brian Horton. There’s only going to be 1,000 copies of these, so get in line, like, now.

Second, Angel & Faith Season 10 #1 gets art by Buffy cover artist Steve Morris. Only 1,000 of these, too, so see above for instructions. Both of these will be selling for $5 and there is a limit of five per person, so don’t try to be greedy.

As for the three exclusive issues, they are a range of coolness. First, artist Stan Sakai has done a special cover for the upcoming The Witcher, a canonical tie-in series in the world of the Witcher video games. Sakai is, of course, best known for creating the Usagi Yojimbo series.

Next, Art Baltazar and Franco bring you the characters that sprung from Mike Mignola’s imagination, “with an AW YEAH twist,” in Itty Bitty Hellboy! This is a limited-edition hardcover retailing for $20.00.

And finally, The Last of Us: American Dreams, from Faith Erin Hicks (The Adventures of Superhero Girl) and Naughty Dog’s Neil Druckmann, collects the comics that are the official lead-in to the game. This is another limited edition hardcover which is actually premiering this weekend at PAX East but will also be at Wondercon for $25.00.

All pretty neat, right? Have a gander at the gorgeousness and plan your con swag purchases accordingly.
