DAREDEVIL Season 2 Trailer Breakdown – Elektra, The Hand, and More!

Earlier this month, Elektra (Elodie Yung) barely appeared at all in the first trailer for Daredevil season two, which instead put the spotlight on Jon Bernthal’s Punisher. However, the new trailer for Daredevil’s second season offers an intriguing glimpse of Elektra in action as well as a few hints about her true agenda. Yeah, that’s right — we’re breaking down the whole trailer on today’s all-new episode of Nerdist News!

Right away, it becomes clear that Elektra knows everything about Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox), including his superhuman senses and his double life as Daredevil. More to the point, Elektra has some bad news for Daredevil. His crusade didn’t clean up Hell’s Kitchen, it only allowed the Yakuza the chance to take over the criminal underworld. According to Elektra, she needs Matt’s help to take them down.

Fans of Daredevil’s first season suspected that the Yakuza was only a front for the Hand, an evil ninja clan with powers and abilities that border on the supernatural. In this trailer, Scott Glenn’s Stick calls out the Hand by name as they descend upon the city.

While Elektra seems to be interested in reigniting her romance with Matt, the trailer also hints at fresh tension between Matt and Foggy (Elden Henson) as well as between Matt and Claire (Rosario Dawson). Waiting in the wings is the Punisher, who seemingly has no allies in his one man war on criminals. In the face of that opposition, even Daredevil is forced to question whether he’s only made things worse for his city.

Daredevil season two hits on Friday, March 18.
