DAREDEVIL Casts Stephen Rider as Blake Tower for Season 2

Deadline has released a story announcing that the Marvel and Netflix series Daredevil has added Stephen Rider, known for Lee Daniels’ The Butler, as a regular cast member in their second season.

According to Deadline, Rider will be taking on the role of Blake Tower, a minor character in several Marvel comic book titles, and the District Attorney for New York City. Obviously this connection to the legal system will have connections to Daredevil’s civilian identity as a small-time defense attorney. It could also be a link between Daredevil and Marvel’s Luke Cage series.

We recently ran a story about Simone Missick’s casting for Netflix’s Luke Cage, who could very well be playing Misty Knight. If this is true, there is a chance she and Rider, like Rosario Dawson, may be another one of the links between Luke Cage and Daredevil. According to the Marvel Wiki page there was a time when Tower “arranged for Misty Knight to go undercover and infiltrate Bushwhacker’s organization.” While the enemy Bushwhacker may not be making an appearance, this could very well become a part of a story line in Luke Cage, bringing Rider over to the other show at some point as well.

Outside of the interlocking shows, the biggest question is how Tower will link into the story of Daredevil’s second season. Well, with the upcoming season lovingly referred to as “Daredevil vs Punisher” by new co-showrunner Marco Ramirez, it is best to assume Blake will be fired up about trying to bring Frank Castle to justice, and we will have to wait to see what kind of lengths he will go to make that happen.

Let us know how excited for you are for season two of Daredevil in the comments below, and feel free to speculate about what will happen with me over on Twitter, @MattDelhauer.
