Danny Trejo Talks About His Role In MUPPETS MOST WANTED and FROM DUSK TILL DAWN

Danny Trejo is a crowd favorite. From his roles in Sons of Anarchy, From Dusk Till Dawn and Machete, Trejo is everyone’s favorite bad guy. Now he’s stepped into a role unlike anything he’s done before: co-starring with the Muppets. Trejo plays himself in Muppets Most Wanted, opening Friday, March 21, and Nerdist caught up with him on the red carpet at the premiere.

How did Trejo like working with the Muppets? “Muppets kick ass!” Trejo continued, “It was great, it was awesome. I loved working on it, it’s the most fun I’ve ever had on a film.”

Was it hard for the tough guy star of Machete to switch gears and act with the Muppets? “You know, I’ve done a few family friendly movies, Spy Kids and stuff, but you know the Muppets is one where you have to let all the machismo and all the tough guy and all the, ‘I’m tougher than you’ go because… you know, you’re talking to a frog. And so you’ve got to just like, let it go and just get into it and go for it and that was the fun part of it.”

We asked Trejo if we could look forward to seeing him on From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series on friend and collaborator Robert Rodriguez’ El Rey Network any time soon, and he answered, “I’ll be on the series next season.” Does Trejo know who he’ll be playing? “Who knows?”

Muppets Most Wanted hits theaters on Friday, March 21.
