Daniel Radcliffe May Be a Time-Traveling Old Lady

Daniel Radcliffe had entertained a number of different cinematic avenues since the close of his decade-long career as the big screen’s Harry Potter. That said, he’s yet to really nail down his post-Potter identity. He’s tampered in the dark arts, braving less-than-stellar outings in The Woman in Black, Horns, and Victor Frankenstein, as well as in lighter fare, showcasing unabashed comic charms in What If and a scene-stealing cameo in Trainwreck. But even if Radcliffe is still figuring out what form this chapter of his career is meant to take, he’ll have no trouble winning over support: just by virtue of being the lovable, affable charmer that he is does Daniel Radcliffe deserve the title of star.

Last night, Radcliffe brought his kooky, self-effacing demeanor to The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, on which he engaged in an undeniably amusing voyage through space and time. Thanks to his trusty pals on the internet, Fallon had collected a series of old photographs depicting what anyone in his or her right mind would have no choice but to deduce are earlier incarnations of an apparently immortal Radcliffe. The really funny part: Most of them were scowling old women.

Radcliffe visited Fallon to promote his upcoming movie Now You See Me 2, which represents yet another new foray for the actor: the action-comedy genre. But in case a sequel to Now You See Me (an admittedly entertaining watch—the kind of movie you’ll spend many a humid afternoon effortlessly watching on cable) isn’t exactly the future you had hoped for for Radcliffe, he’s got another movie coming out this month: Swiss Army Man, which is not only new territory for Radcliffe, but for the film industry on the whole. If you don’t know what I mean, check out the red band trailer, ditto Dan Casey’s review from the film’s very polarizing premiere at the Sundance Film Festival.

Are you firmly on the Radcliffe train, or do you wish he’d nail down a role you can really sink your teeth into? Let us know what kind of roles you’d like to see the former Mr. Potter do next!
