Daenerys Breaks the Wheel in New GAME OF THRONES Season 5 Trailer

HBO dropped a nice present into our laps today during the Apple Live Event: a new Game of Thrones Season 5 trailer. Also known as, “Omgggg, dragon!” You know, business as usual. They released the trailer in celebration of the announcement that HBO Now will be premiering in April on Apple TV and other iGadgets. The streaming service will let you watch Game of Thrones without cable. Pretty awesome, eh? Not as awesome as the almost two minutes of Season 5 footage we got though. Daenerys Targaryen takes center stage and we learn the context of her quote about breaking the wheel. It’s not about stopping slavery. It’s about taking the Iron Throne. Watch:

“Baratheon. Starks. Tyrell. They’re all just spokes on a wheel. This one’s on top, then that one’s on top, and on and on it spins, crushing those on the ground. I’m not going to stop the wheel. I’m going to break the wheel.”

Here are some of the highlights of the trailer: Cersei looking unhappy about Tommen and Margaery’s wedding (does she ever look happy?), Tyrion spotting a dragon (which ties in to the Season 5 poster), Daenerys reuniting with Drogon at least briefly, Daenerys with Daario Naharis, Sand Snakes in action, Brienne of Tarth somewhere snowy, Arya with her coin of the Faceless Man, Stannis Baratheon at the Wall, soldiers wearing shields marked with House Arryn’s sigil, Jaime Lannister fighting what looks like someone from Dorne, Bronn wielding a sword, and trouble brewing in Meereen. In other words, things look just as gripping and exciting as ever in Westeros.

Oh! Applause to Jon Snow for getting in the obligatory, “Winter is coming.”

What do you think of the new Game of Thrones trailer? Can you wait until April 12? Fly to the comments and tell us your favorite part about the fresh footage.

I think it’s BS that they’re only releasing HBO Now on apple products.
