Cut SNL Sketches Will Get New Life at LATE NIGHT WITH SETH MEYERS

Many of you might know that the legendary sketch variety show Saturday Night Live often cuts sketches during dress rehearsal before putting together the final version of the show that will go to air and that millions of viewers around the world will see. For those of you that don’t, behind-the-scenes of SNL is a wonderful whirlwind of a place, resulting in many last minute, in-the-heat-of-the-moment decisions (imagine Lorne Michaels pulling an Olivia Pope). Some of those decisions involve cutting sketches that have been written, rehearsed, and then performed on a set and in costume.

Seth Meyers, along with Jason Sudeikis, Will Forte, and a few other SNL alums, will be breathing new life into the deleted sketches on NBC’s Late Night with Seth Meyers. Revealed during an interview this week with Sudeikis, Meyers is going to have the cut sketches reenacted in a segment called “Second Chance Theater.”

So, you will indeed get to see Will Forte’s Jenjamin Franklin, a character he discussed on his recent appearance on the Nerdist podcast, on TV. It will be intriguing to see how the bits will be received, even if they devolve into people trying to not break character and burst out laughing.

What unaired sketches would you like to see grace the stage of Second Chance Theater?

    Come on Jenjamin Franklin!

  3. Bryan says:

As illustrated above… that potato chip sketch is in my top 3 all-time. The absurdity, the commitment, the sheer fact it aired on TV. Genius.

  4. Kenny says:

I don’t know which ones I’d want to see. Because they’re unaired.
