Teen Wolf fans, the impossible is happening: Crystal Reed is coming back!
But how, you may be asking yourselves right now, can she return to the MTV supernatural drama when her fan-favorite character Allison Argent was shockingly and heartbreakingly killed at the end of season three? The answer comes care of Buzzfeed, who first reported this major news.
Reed is set to return as a guest star in the February 23 episode, titled “The Maid of Gévaudan,” and she wonât be playing Allison. Instead, sheâll be playing the head of the Argent family line, Marie-Jeanne Valet, aka the titular Maid of Gévaudan, in flashbacks.
“Basically, [executive producer] Jeff [Davis] just said, ‘France in the 1700s,’ and I was in,” Reed told Buzzfeed. “He was definitely playing into my emotions. He knows that I have been dying to do a period piece and I love getting my head around different accents and different cultures. He didnât even have much of a character worked out other than it was based on the Maid of Gévaudan. And I knew the legend, so before really knowing anything further, I said yes.”
And Reed’s flashbacks will have an important tie-in to the present-day storyline, since Gerard Argent (Michael Hogan) is telling the Maid of Gévaudan’s story to Scott (Tyler Posey), Stiles (Dylan OâBrien), Lydia (Holland Roden), Malia (Shelley Hennig), and Liam (Dylan Sprayberry) in order to try and figure out how to defeat the Beast of Gévaudan, the villainous monster that has returned in the present in Beacon Hills that Marie-Jeanne Valet faced in 1765. According to Davis, Valet is one of the first people to have survived an attack from the Beast.
And though Valet lived long before Allison was ever born, there are going to be many similarities between the two warriors. For one, they both prefer bows and arrows and crossbows as their weapons of choice. And two, their mannerisms are going to be extremely similar.
“There are little things I got to do with the character that Allison might have doneâa little look or a gesture or the way she walksâI sort of made sure they were a little bit the same because theyâre family after all,” Reed said. “She shares that basic, intrinsic quality Allison had that was just pure kindness. Sheâs fighting for justice and for whatâs right, and thatâs something I think they have in common that people will love. Itâs the hero and the bravery that gets us at the end of the day.”
Reed starred as the female lead on Teen Wolf for the first three seasons, before Allison tragically died in the season three finale battle with the evil Oni. After getting stabbed by a sword, she bled out in Scott’s arms while calling him her “first love.” She was dating werewolf Isaac (Daniel Sharman), Scott’s beta, at the time of her death, and he ended up leaving town with Allison’s father Chris Argent (J. R. Bourne) to grieve.
