CREED 2 Trailer Sets Adonis Against Drago Jr.

The first Creed saw Michael B. Jordan‘s Adonis trying to fight his way out of his late father’s huge shadow by proving he could stand toe-to-toe in the ring with the best in the world. But in the first trailer for the sequel, he’s not the only son who will follow in his father’s footsteps. And just like that fateful night in Las Vegas when Apollo lost his life, death is on the table when a Creed steps into the squared circle to face a Drago.

The Creed 2 trailer might introduce the newest film in the Rocky franchise, but it’s full of old, familiar problems both in and out of the ring. Just like Rocky Balboa long ago had to grow accustomed to the perils of fame, fortune, and family responsibility, Adonis Creed finds himself with a whole lot to lose after finding success. And in the same way Adrian once worried Rocky would die in the ring when he faced Ivan Drago, who killed Apollo in an exhibition fight in Rocky IV, Sylvester Stallone‘s Rocky is now worried the same could happen to Adonis.

This genuinely looks like it could be even better than the great first film. It touches upon some of the best themes of the entire franchise, mirrors Rocky’s rise and struggles in new ways, and calls back on Apollo’s own demise to frame and give added emotional weight to a new chapter in the story.

Not to mention we’re getting an all new terrifying Drago to fight.

Directed by Steven Caple Jr. and also starring Tessa Thompson, Phylicia Rashad, and Dolph Lundgren, Creed 2 comes to theaters on November 21.
