Any time I watch Downton Abbey I’m intrigued by well, the intrigues of the different lives and stories that unfold upstairs and downstairs. I’m also quite taken by the elegance of the time period and Lord Grantham’s home. Filmed at the very real Highclere Castle, Downton is shining bastion of opulence. I have no idea what I would do with so many rooms, but I want them all the same. I’d be alright with a miniature version of the grand home though, and I can own a light-up porcelain Downton thanks to Department 56. Actually, I could own a village of Downton Abbey buildings and figures. What would the Dowager Countess say?
Don’t worry, Lady Grantham, we’ve got you covered. The crown of the Downton Abbey series is obviously the estate. It’s nearly a foot high and each porcelain piece was cast from hand and hand-painted. Mr. Carson would be proud. The manor is complemented by the Crawley home, the Dower abode, and figurines. How lovely.
The only disappointing aspect of this set is that there aren’t more figurines and that the existing ones don’t look like the characters. You can tell who Lady Crawley and the Dowager Countess are by their clothing, but the faces look nothing like Penelope Wilton or Maggie Smith. The manufacturer may not have likeness permissions to make the figurines exact replicas.

You can pre-order the entire Downton Abbey collection from Big Bad Toy Store. Prices start at $24.99. They products aren’t scheduled to ship until June so you have plenty of time to clear space for your Downton Abbey village.
Will you buy any Downton figures or buildings, and if you do, will you please share photos with us? Let me know in the comments.
