It would appear the holidays have come early for fans of excellent science fiction television as itâs finally been revealed Canadian time-travel drama, Continuum, has been renewed for a fourth and final six episode season that will air on both Syfy and Showcase. Starring Rachel Nichols, the series follows the exploits of Kiera Cameron, a law-enforcement officer who travels back to our present from the year 2077 after being forced into the plan of a terrorist group known as Liber8 to change the future.
Itâs been a while since news came for the drama, and for a long stretch now itâs seemed as if fans werenât going to get a conclusion to the story that ended on a third season cliffhanger with future mech robots appearing in downtown Vancouver just for the sake of wreaking havoc on the population. While Orphan Black is excellent, it isnât the only female-led Canadian science-fiction game in town. Continuumâs an excellent series with a loyal fan base thatâs always asked for nothing more than respect. However, as these things often do, what was holding up the renewal most likely had to do with money.
Even though the series does air on Syfy in the states, it isnât owned by the network, so nothing could truly happen until Showcase, the original Canadian network handling the series in its home country, made a decision on how to move forward with the show following its dip in ratings. Most likely, a deal was set to make Syfy pick up part of the tab of the show in order to give it a conclusion that would make it more enticing to streamers such as Netflix that currently run the program on their service. That’s all speculation on our part, of course.

Thank the gods! I’ve waited long enough for this news. I hope they make the last 6 episodes a worthy ending to this excellent series!
Yes yes yes! So happy to get a conclusion to this best show ever! Love Continuum since day 1! Wish it could be more episodes, but happy we get an ending to the story. This show had incredible writing and actors. I have enjoyed every episode. Thank you! Looking forward to the series finale!
yes! YES! YES!!!!
YESYESYES!!! But only 6 eps 🙁
So, is that a thing? To finish a series’ story arc so that it’s more palatable to streamers? Because, that’s cool!! Who want’s to invest in a story that doesn’t have an ending?? Even if the ending is reduced to 6 episodes?
Yay, returns. Boo, final.
if enough people watch, there’s always a chance for season 5.
Yes Yes I am…Here’s a show that just continued to get better. Only 6 more episodes, kind of bums me out though.
Sweet
