Okay, this is pretty slick. Someone’s created a parody of the New York Times’ coverage of Osama bin Laden’s killing, but in this version, instead of President Obama announcing bin Laden’s death, it’s Darth Vader announcing the death of Obi-Wan Kenobi. It even links to information about Obi-Wan’s “compound” (actually, the Wookeepedia page for his hut).
It’s a little jarring to see Darth Vader in the Obama role and Obi-Wan Kenobi in the role of terrorist, but the design is letter-perfect Times style, and don’t miss the comments (including appropriate spam and many replies). I also like the subtle touches, like the “Autos” tab replaced by “Starships.” And, unlike the New York Times, the Galactic Empire Times is not behind a paywall.

The comments on the ‘Times’ page are hysterical!!! Now that’s what nerd sourcing is all about!
OMG That’s genius.
My news droid Emes Enbecee would like to remind everyone that they should not become distracted by this imperial propaganda, and should in fact be concerned over the Imperial Walker currently devastating a small backwater planet called Wizconsin.
The Rebels were not being hunted for the destruction of the Deathstar when Obi-Wan was killed. Presumably they had committed other failed “terrorist” activities before (i.e. detonating a yellow Ryder moving ship full of explosives in the lower parking areas of the Deathstar) that had already brought them onto the Empires radar.
I was just thinking about this yesterday, we as the US killed a bearded religious leader (Bin Laden/Kenobi) who’s group was responsible for terrorist activities (9-11/ Deathstar Destruction). The person that started the hunts for the bearded religious leader was himself a religious zealot of another denomination (Emperor/Bush). But I’m just an ewok trapped in a wookie’s body
