A draw is cool and all but for both times the crowd was noticeably louder for Dave Hill.
I just posted a review of this episode on my podcast.
Rather than leave the impression that I’m reviewing it simply to drive traffic to my podcast, I’ll give you the TL;DL (Too Long, Didn’t Listen) here:
It’s not fan fiction if you’re not a fan.
It’s not an imitation of fan fiction, if you don’t imitate the perspective of a fan.
If, instead, you take pride in the fact that you know nothing about the property, if you take the attitude of someone who’s nowhere near nerdy enough to actually be a fan of something, then it’s not parody, it’s mockery.
Yeah, the comedians are funny. I’d hope they are, they’re professionals. But it’s the kind of humor that, instead of celebrating the foibles of a culture you claim membership of, points a finger and derides the people you separate yourself from.
Now that you’ve read some criticism from someone who cares, scroll down and read some more mockery.
