It’s November 7th everybody! If your gaming knowledge is up to date, you know that means it’s “Mass Effect Day” (a.k.a. “N7 Day”). Although we know we won’t be getting any serious Mass Effect: Andromeda-related news, Bioware kicked off the festivities today by debuting a new teaser for the game. Check it out above.
Unlike the debut trailer they showed off at E3, this one doesn’t feature any gameplay. Instead, the developer opted for archival space footage featuring the voice of Fem Shep herself, Jennifer Hale, as the narrator. While many are quick to point out that it’s weird to hear her voice in the teaser, especially since Bioware revealed that she won’t be making an appearance in the game, the teaser serves as a nice transition between the first three titles and the new adventure. As for the use of archival footage instead of showcasing something created in-engine, it’s important to remember that the game’s launch is still pretty far off. There will be plenty of time for gameplay before the game’s December 2016 release date.
Bioware is still keeping plot details pretty close to the chest, but as a refresher, here’s the brief description they gave during E3:
“While we arenât ready to go into too many details just yet, as you saw in the trailer and can tell by the name, this game is very much a new adventure, taking place far away from and long after the events of the original trilogy. You will play a human, male or female, though thatâs actually not the character you saw in the trailer (more on that later). Youâll be exploring an all-new galaxy, Andromeda, and piloting the new and improved Mako you saw. And through it all, you will have a new team of adventurers to work with, learn from, fight alongside of, and fall in love with.”
And here’s the original trailer:
