Coming Friday: Doctor Who Who-eekend on the Nerdist Channel

In honor of the new season of Doctor Who starting this weekend on the BBC and BBC America, the Nerdist Channel is going all-out for what we’re calling Doctor Who-eekend. (Who-ee!) Here’s what we’ll have:

We couldn’t hold it back any longer, so on Friday, we’re posting the special episode of Chris Hardwick’s All-Star Celebrity Bowling featuring Team Doctor Who — Matt Smith, Karen Gillan, Arthur Darvill, and Steven Moffat — taking on Team Nerdist (Chris, Chloe Dykstra, Alex Albrecht, and Wil Wheaton) in a battle taped at San Diego Comic-Con International. I was there, and I can tell you that YOU HAVE TO WATCH THIS. It’s hilarious, and you will come away with a new appreciation for certain folks and their bowling abilities (and/or lack thereof). Again, DO NOT MISS THIS ONE. It’s so good, we couldn’t wait to air it until the new All-Star Bowling season was ready to go, so you’ll see it Friday.

On Saturday, we debut the new show Dork Fork, and this one’s another keeper: It’s a cooking show that shows you how to make food themed to special nerdly events, like, well, the new season of Doctor Who. And here’s the piece de resistance: the special guest for this episode is Alton Brown, Whovian, guru of the science of cooking, and, of course, host of Good Eats and Iron Chef America. So you know it’ll be great.  And tasty.

Then, on Saturday night, once you’ve seen the new episode of Doctor Who at 9/8c on BBC America, we’ll be releasing video at 10/9c from the Q&A that followed the New York special screening of the episode. Chris hosted the event, with Matt Smith, Karen Gillan, and Executive Producer Caroline Skinner on the panel. Chris describes it as a sort-of “Talking Who,” or, if you prefer, “Talktor Who.” You get the idea. And it’s the ideal way to follow up the season opener.

Finally, Chloe and Matt Mira bring Just Cos back with a look at cosplay from Gallifrey One. That’s on Sunday morning, and if you’ve enjoyed Just Cos‘ look at cosplay before and you love Doctor Who, how can you miss this? You can’t. So don’t.

Anyway, that’s the rundown. Seriously, you gotta see this batch of stuff if you’re even remotely a Doctor Who fan. And if you haven’t subscribed to the Nerdist Channel yet, do that now. That way, the moment the shows get posted, you’ll know.
