Welcome to the weekend edition of Comics Relief kids! In today’s installment, we have (of course) more Marvel Secret Wars Announcements, news of several acclaimed series from BOOM! Studios getting the collected edition treatment, and return of one of Image Comics’ most popular books from the late ’90’s. But first, a truly iconic DC Comics legend for over 75 years ends decades of speculation and officially comes out of the closet.
Catwoman Comes Out Of The Closet As Bisexual In Latest Issue
In this week’s issue of Catwoman, issue #39, Selina Kyle kisses another woman, making it official once and for all that the character of Catwoman is indeed bisexual. Series Writer Genevieve Valentine wrote on her blog that establishing Selina Kyle as âcanon bisexualâ was something she had always panned to do in the series.âSheâs flirted around it â often quite literally â for years now; for me, this wasnât a revelation so much as a confirmation.â
Of almost all the DC characters, Catwoman’s has always been about sex and sexuality, so why limit it to one gender? The reveal came when Catwoman confronted a character than had taken up her name and mantle, which ultimately resulted in a kiss. Catwoman has always had a big ego, no wonder she’d go for someone that reminder her of herself.[Hollywood Reporter]
Quicksilver and The Scarlet Witch’s Real Father Finally Revealed In Uncanny Avengers
While DC made a big reveal about Catwoman’s orientation this week, Mavel finally answered the question they’ve been teasing for months now, “who is the true father of Quicksilver and the Scarlet Witch?” Last year we learned that after decades of believing that Magneto was their father, it turns out to not be the case. Instead, it was revealed that the twins Pietro and Wanda Maximoff were created by another long standing Marvel villain, the High Evolutionary. Although the High Evolutionary isn’t going to be the ones that give them their powers in Avengers: Age of Ultron, it seems this concept matches closer, with both twin given powers through scientific experimentation, instead of being born mutants or Inhumans.
Battle Chasers Set To Return As Both A Comic Book And A Video Game
Battle Chasers was one of the bigger comics coming from Image in the late ’90s/early 2000’s, and is now set to make a comeback in both comic book and video game form, as Polygon has announced that Joe Madureira’s creator-owned comic series will return as both a comic book and video game later this year. Battle Chasers was Joe Madureira’s first creator-owned work following an incredibly popular run of  Uncanny X-Men at Marvel, but the book was constantly late and there would be months and months between issues, and the series ended on a still unresolved cliffhanger in 2001’s Battle Chasers #9. Madureira promises that tying up that loose end is the first thing he plans to do with the new series. [Comic Book Resources]
Even More Marvel Zombies Coming For Your Brains In Secret Wars
Earlier this week we reported that the Marvel Zombies was making a comeback in Age of Ultron Vs. Marvel Zombies as part of the massive Secret Wars event. but those zombies won’t be the only ones; in addition to that new ongoing series, Marvel is bringing back Marvel Zombies as a new series, minus the pesky Ultron robots. The new series follows Elsa Bloodstone, a character fans might remember from the short-lived series Nextwave, as sheâs dealing with the enormous job of defending âThe Shield,â a barrier on the southern hemisphere of Battleworld, on which the other zombies are awaiting to break through and eat some brains. [Bloody Disgusting]

While DC Comics is moving from New York to California after 80 years in the Big Apple, Marvel is staying put, and celebrating their legacy of New York publishing by releasing a series of New York City themed variant covers in May. In an article in the New York Times, Marvel’s Axel Alonso announced the publisher will be releasing 15 NYC-themed variant covers that show Marvel heroes interacting with various city landmarks. The four covers revealed so far have the Hulk chilling out in Central Park, Ant-Man at a hot dog stand, the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. in their flying car near the Statue of Liberty, and Daredevil swinging near what looks to be Broadway.
