The Nerdist Industries panel at Comic-Con in San Diego Saturday featured some big announcements and an overview of what’s coming up for us in the near future.

The big announcement, of course, was the deal by which Nerdist will partner with Tribeca Film to distribute the film Zero Charisma; you can read all about that here. The movie, described by Jonah Ray as “sincere and authentic,” was previewed in clips shown to the audience in the Hilton Bayfront’s Indigo Ballroom:

Another announcement by Nerdist Industries co-founder Chris Hardwick was the unveiling of a new series of classes involving comedy, video production, writing, and other creative endeavors in a curriculum to be taught at NerdMelt Showroom at Meltdown Comics in Los Angeles. Hardwick described the curriculum as “a really inexpensive, fun way to learn.” Details of the classes will be available soon at nerdmeltla.com.

The guys behind Sneaky Zebra — Nick Acott and Gary Scullion — explained their video juggernaut’s participation in the Nerdist Alliance (and took some jibes from Hardwick about their British pronunciation of “zebra” as “ZEH-bruh”), while Matt Bennett talked up his Nerdist Channel series Nerdy Jobs (“it’s Dirty Jobs,” he joked, “but Nerdy Jobs“), Nerdist News Editor-in-Chief Brian Walton talked about the news division’s growth, and Carrie Keagan spoke about the success of the latest edition of Course of the Force, beating last year’s collection for the Make-a-Wish Foundation, with Hardwick telling the crowd that “(it) looks like we’re gonna be able to do it again next year,” prompting Matt Mira, a noted Star Trek aficionado, to interject, “Set your phasers to run!,” drawing objections from the Star Wars fans in the room.

Chloe Dykstra previewed a yet-to-be-announced show upon which she is working, which she described as “a couple of girls hanging out talking about games” in their pajamas. And Freddie Wong promoted the new season of Video Game High School coming up starting July 25th (with Hardwick making a cameo in an upcoming episode), along with a concept he’s working on for YouTube’s Geek Week in which he uses Batman’s skyhook to extricate himself from awkward dates. Hardwick closed the panel by promoting his upcoming Comedy Central late-night series @midnight and answering audience questions, including who his favorite guests were on the Nerdist Podcast (there were several, with Rick Moranis, Mel Brooks, and Tom Hanks mentioned by name), whether the “Nerdist Lads in London” will ever go anyplace else (Hardwick demurred on that question but, after Mira and Ray said that they had spent eight days in London taping the segments for BBC America’s The Nerdist, shot back, “THAT’S what you did in a WEEK?!?”).
