Comedy Playlist: Conan’s NCAA Dunking Mascots, CRIMINAL PROBATION, and FAN SERVICE

If you were trying to figure out a theme for today’s playlist, you could use the word “heroic.” We start off with a new personal hero of mine, comedian Ari Mannis, who turned heartbreak into an ocean view. Then, we’ll follow that up with some NCAA dunking mascots that include an archenemy of everyone’s favorite wall-crawling hero, Spider-Man. Finally, we’ll end strong with a bunch of dudes being uber nitpicky about a superhero in their lives.

Hey, we’ve all been there. You’re young, you’re going through a rough patch, and there’s a tree in the way of your ocean view. What do you do? You cut down that tree, of course. Oh wait, that’s never happened to you? Oh, well then find out what happens to comedian Ari Mannis in this animated depiction of the events that earned the title Criminal Probation.

You can’t have NCAA March Madness without some mascots. As the gameplay gets down to the wire, it’s only fitting Conan delivered another batch of mascots who should never ever dunk. This current bunch of less-than-ideal sports representatives includes a centaur with a beer belly, a tangled Doctor Octopus, the drawer where Johnny Depp keeps his scarves, a hefty genie stuck in a lamp, and more.

Did you ever stop to think that maybe all the superhero origin stories have been used up? I mean just like there are only so many musical notes, maybe there are only so many cool superhero tropes. Sketch comedy troupe Charney introduces us to a group of fellows who have no idea their pal is the man behind the new superhero on the scene. It’s too bad they’re completely underwhelmed by the masked crusader’s identity.

Who was your favorite NCAA Dunking Mascot on Conan? Tell us below.
