Comedy Central Renews REVIEW and Has Way More Up Its Sleeve

Most networks, both cable and broadcast, just went on a line-up rampage, canceling several shows. Many sitcoms and talk shows fell under the axe, due to poor ratings. Comedy Central, however, currently stands as an outlier, likely enjoying the critical acclaim and solid performances from almost their entire slate of programming. Comedy Central has wisely just renewed Review, Inside Amy Schumer, and TripTank and ordered several new series.

Review was a critical darling in its first season, which seems to be a growing trend in TV these days (See: Louie, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Silicon Valley). Let’s give thanks to Andy Daly for one of the most unique, hilarious high concepts series in recent memory, as well as his dedication to eating pancakes (despite the results). Inside Amy Schumer got an equal amount of positive attention for its pointed feminist perspective in its second season. There was a time where Comedy Central had much more animated shows on its schedule, but now with only South Park and Brickleberry, TripTank rounds out their animation line-up. So, Review and TripTank are set for a second season and Inside Amy Schumer is set for a third.

The new series orders come both for the network in 2015 as well as their awesome digital arm, CC:Studios. Period piece faux reality show, Another Period starring Natasha Leggero and Riki Lindhome, was just picked up to series at Comedy Central. CC:Studios’ web series Idiotsitter starring Jillian Bell and Charlotte Newhouse got upgraded to full fledged TV series as well. 6 Guys 1 Car, 300 Sunnyside, New Timers, Pie Guys, Roustabout with Kurt Braunohler, and Team Tiger Awesome are six new web series coming to CC:Studios to top off this Comedy Central bonanza today.
