Something very cool is coming up in a few weeks, and Nerdist is right in the middle of it. Well, maybe off to the side a bit. But it’s absolutely something you’ll want to see.
The annual Outside Lands festival of music, comedy, art, food, and drink will be at Golden Gate Park in San Francisco August 10th through 12th, and the music lineup should be enough to make you want to be there, unless you can’t find anything you’d want to hear and see from a list that includes Metallica, Stevie Wonder, Neil Young, Foo Fighters, Jack White, Beck, Skrillex, Sigur Ros, Regina Spektor, Big Boi, Tom Morello, the Dirty Dozen Brass Band, Reggie Watts, Portugal, The Man, Of Monsters and Men, Die Antwoord, Fitz and the Tantrums, lots more acts you know, and a roster of top DJs. But there’s comedy, too, and that’s where Nerdist comes in.
The Barbary at Outside Lands is a tent where SF Sketchfest — yes, our own Janet Varney and Cole Stratton — will be presenting comedy all day, each day of the festival, and Saturday, August 11th will be presented in partnership with… wait for it… Nerdist Industries! Surprise! (Except if you heard Chris, Jonah, and Matt talk about it on the podcast. Or if you read the headline and opening paragraphs and possess any kind of reading comprehension ability) Yes, Saturday is all Nerdist-approved comedy, and here’s the schedule:
The day opens, as all three days do at the Barbary, with Mustache Harbor rocking the ’70s-’80s adult contemporary hits noon-12:40 pm. Then, the comedy cavalcade begins, with Jonah Ray hosting a Nerdist Stand-Up Cluster 1-2:10 pm with Pete Holmes, David Koechner, Michelle Buteau, Jesse Elias, and Caitlin Gill. Justin Willman takes the stage at 2:30 for a special edition of Magic Meltdown, followed at 3:30 pm by another Nerdist Stand-Up Cluster hosted by Jackie Kashian with guests Reggie Watts, Ron Funches, Michelle Buteau again, Cory Loykasek, and Mike Drucker.
At 5 pm, you’ll see a Nerdist Variety Show hosted by Chris Hardwick with Neil Patrick Harris, David Koechner, Justin Willman, Marcus Monroe, Ron Funches, and Jackie Kashian. And at 6:45 pm, it’s more Nerdist Variety Show with Chris, Neil, David, Justin, Marcus, Jonah Ray, and Pete Holmes.
Wow.
You’ll also want to see the other two days of comedy, including Friday with folks like David Cross, Kristen Schaal, Kurt Braunohler, and Tig Notaro and Sunday’s Adult Swim-sponsored day including an edition of You Made It Weird with Pete joined by Eric Andre, Brett Gelman, and Jon Glaser. But definitely come for the Nerdist Industries day on Saturday, August 11th.

This is so tempting…..
will you be giving out hugs at the end of the shows?
