Welp, it’s that time again; time for another Classic Doctor Who screening at the NerdMelt Showroom at Meltdown Comics in Los Angeles hosted by yours truly. This time, we’re venturing as far forward as one can go and still be considered the “classic series,” the 1996 TV movie starring Paul McGann, his only televised adventure as the Eighth Doctor. After landing in San Francisco on the verge of the year 2000, the Seventh Doctor (Sylvester McCoy) is mortally wounded, just as he’s transporting the essence of his arch nemesis, the Master, to its final resting place. While the Doctor begins his regeneration, the Master finds himself a new host, in the form of Eric Roberts (I know!), and begins his plans for, you guessed it, universal domination. This movie was a co-production between the BBC, Fox Television, and Universal, and is interesting, to say the least.
This screening will be held this Saturday, August 31st, at 12:00pm (or Noon to those in the know) at 7522 Sunset Blvd, Hollywood, CA 90046 and is, as always, ABSOLUTELY FREE! There will also be trivia contests and prize giveaways provided by BBC Home Entertainment, so do not miss out. To RSVP to this event, visit NerdMelt’s website right meow.
I hope to see as many people there as possible! Come say hello! Then go home that night and watch BBC America’s Eighth Doctor Revisited special….
Paul McGann has the pimpinest TARDIS interior!
