Colossus gives Deadpool a Piggyback Ride in New Poster

If calculations are correct, it’s day 9 of the “12 Days of Deadpool,” and that means another new reveal from the very anticipated comic book movie starring Ryan Reynolds. This time, it comes in the form of a new IMAX poster.

Paying homage to Drew Struzan, the new poster looks like it could be framed next to Star Wars or Raiders of the Lost Ark and no one would bat an eye. The main focus is the Merc with a Mouth getting a piggyback ride from X-Man Colossus, played by Andre Tricoteux. This Colossus looks more true to the comic than the version played by Daniel Cudmore in the X-Men movies. Then again, since Deadpool’s costume couldn’t be more of an exact copy from the comic pages, this isn’t that surprising.

Underneath the poster, we see Deadpool and Ajax (Ed Skrein) mimicking the lightsaber battle between Anakin and Obi-Wan from the Revenge of the Sith poster, except with katana blades and axes. Overall, it’s a great poster and will definitely get fans ready for the IMAX release. Remember, the “12 Days of Deadpool” culminates on Friday with the release of the new trailer on ESPN.

Deadpool, also starring Morena Baccarin and T.J. Miller, opens everywhere February 12, 2016.

So what do you think? Are the 12 Days of Deadpool getting you geared for the movie, or is it just another example of marketing overkill? Let me know on Twitter or sound off in the comments and watch our breakdown of the Deadpool trailer below.
