We Want to Live in This Massive AT-ACT Playhouse

There’s no shortage of things to get excited about with regards to Rogue One. The trailers have teased everything from the return of Darth Vader to blind Donnie Yen wiping out a whole mess of Imperial Troopers with a staff. But one of the biggest moments that’s triggered the ol’ nostalgia senses is seeing a handful of monstrous AT-ATs back in action. Errr… AT-ACTs in this case. Luckily, we don’t have to wait for the movie to have more AT-ACT in our lives however, because YouTuber and (delightful) madman Colin Furze built a real-life version of the Imperial walker. And it’s a playhouse and we want to live in it.

Furze, who’s risked life and limb—seriously his limbs—with projects like this hoverbike and this flame-throwing guitar, used the “2 x force” in this case to construct a massive 5.5 meter-long AT-ACT that has fully functional components like a loading ramp that descends from its belly and laser cannons that can move up and down.

Furze’s AT-ACT doesn’t have the key distinguishing component that the movie-version AT-ACT has versus the AT-AT, “a dedicated cargo bed for the transportation of heavy building materials or combat munitions,” but what it does have is something significantly better: a playhouse full of Star Wars toys and also some pretty groovy neon lights.

Like all of Furze’s YouTube projects, this mightily awesome contraption is a one-off, so odds of actually going inside one of these seems pretty slim. But it does live in a little boy’s backyard now, so presumably he’s waking up every morning amped out of his mind. (Grooming a padawan, Furze may be?)

You can watch the month it took Furze and his team to build the AT-ACT compressed into eleven minutes in the video below. It’s worth the watch if you’re into using tools or just enjoy some good ol’ Imperial Trooper-helmet antics.

What do you think about Furze’s massive AT-ACT? Do you want to live inside of it and use it to get to work and maybe even intimidate a boss or two? Let us know what you’d do with this thing in the comments below!
