Thereâs no other show on television thatâs been met with the level of casting scrutiny that HBOâs True Detective has. Male, female, young, old, it seems that if you work in Hollywood, at one point or another your name has been thrown into the casting pool of the seriesâ highly anticipated second season. One of the names among the dozens that seems to have stuck around the ever-changing lists is that of Irish actor Colin Farrell. Now, after weeks and weeks of speculation, it appears the actor himself has finally stepped out of the shadows to confirm the news.
While speaking with Irish newspaper The Sunday World, the actor reportedly stated, âIâm so excited… I know it will be eight episodes and take around four or five months to shoot. I know very little about it, but weâre shooting in the environs of Los Angeles which is great. It means I get to stay at home and see the kids.â
If Colinâs statement is true, then it would be the first confirmed piece of casting weâve gotten to date. Thus far, some other rumored names include Vince Vaughn, Elisabeth Moss, Michelle Forbes and Rachel McAdams, in addition to a possible story that HBO is looking to have Fast & Furious director Justin Lin take on the lead chair behind the camera for at least the first two episodes. Regardless of whatâs true and whatâs fiction, the new season is set to start production very soon, so it shouldnât be much longer now before HBO finally confirms who will grace the critically acclaimed drama next year.
