Cliff Curtis Cast in THE WALKING DEAD Spin-Off

Evidently nothing can sate our appetite for The Walking Dead spin-off news. Like the citizens of Terminus at an all-you-can-eat tainted meat buffet, our hunger for casting news knows no bounds and now we have yet another delicious morsel to tide us over: actor Cliff Curtis has been cast as the male lead in the companion series pilot.

Curtis will play Sean Cabrera, a divorced teacher with a son who is trying to do right by everyone in his life. Making amends in the zombie apocalypse is no small feat, but better late than never, I suppose. Other survivors in the companion series include Cody Cabrera, Sean’s rebellious teenage son; Nancy Tompkins, a thirtysomething single mom with two kids, who are played by Frank Dillane and Alycia Debnam Carey; and Andrea “No Not That Andrea” Chapman, a “somewhat wilted flower child.”

The show, codenamed “Cobalt,” is not about a certified pre-owned 2010 Chevy Cobalt, which comes equipped with a 2.0 liter Turbo engine. Rather, it follows survivors of The Walking Dead‘s zombie apocalypse in a non-Georgia part of the world. Some have speculated that it may take us all the way to France, but I’d settle for anywhere that is far, far away from season-long farmhouses. If The Walking Dead‘s excellent season 5 is any indication, though, they may have worked out their pacing kinks, and perhaps Cobalt can be The Flash to The Walking Dead‘s Arrow.
