Classic INHUMANS Are Coming to AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D.

The Inhumans have been at the forefront of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. since early in the second season, which led to the revelation that Skye/Daisy was Quake from Marvel’s comic book universe. This was widely believed to be laying the groundwork for the Inhumans movie that was until fairly recently on Marvel Studios’ release schedule. Now that the Inhumans film is off the schedule, it appears that Marvel TV may have more leeway to use the Inhumans characters going forward.

“We do have a little more freedom,” said Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. executive producer Jed Whedon in a report on io9. “We’ve told a couple of seasons of stories but now we do have some more freedom. So when we return to focusing on Inhumans, we’ll be able to do a little bit more.” Io9 added that Whedon and Maurissa Tancharoen indicated that the show will be able to use some of the classic Inhumans characters.

Classic Inhumans characters usually entails the royal family: Black Bolt, Medusa, Crystal, Karnak, Gorgon, Triton, and Lockjaw, an incredibly large dog with the ability to teleport. There are two ways that this can play out. If Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. can only use “some” of the classic characters, then Marvel Studios may still have plans to get back to the Inhumans movie. But if Black Bolt and Medusa show up on TV, it probably means that the Inhumans won’t be getting their own film after all. Back when Inhumans was still in the works, the popular rumor had Vin Diesel potentially playing Black Bolt. We’d still love to see that on the big screen!
