Classic DC and MARVEL Comics Covers Recreated in LEGO

LEGO has long been making toys based on DC and Marvel Comics super heroes– one of the few major companies to actually have both licenses. Now an Imgur user by the name of Corsairsteel has taken those same LEGO figures and recreated some of the most iconic covers and images from the history of both companies, and the results are pretty awesome.

Among the iconic covers recreated in LEGO form, there’s the one that started it all: Action Comics #1, which was Superman’s very first appearance from way back in 1938. Also from that same era is Detective Comics #27, which is the first ever Batman comic. Also on the classic DC tip, there’s the first race between the Flash and Superman from Superman #199, which originally came out in the sixties, and the often-imitated Brian Bolland Joker cover from Batman: The Killing Joke. Maybe the weirdest one he recreated was the cover to Green Lantern/Green Arrow #85, the early seventies story where Green Arrow discovers that his sidekick Speedy was secretly a heroin addict. Because nothing says “drug abuse” like cute little interlocking toy bricks.

On the Marvel side of things, he has recreated the covers to The Incredible Hulk #181, which was the first appearance of Wolverine, the first issue cover for Wolverine’s first limited series from the eighties, the first time Jean Grey adopts the Phoenix persona in Uncanny X-Men #101, and two different Spider-Man covers: The Amazing Spider-Man #3, which was the first time Spidey faced Doc Ock, and an equally famous interior art image from John Romita, when Peter Parker quits being Spider-Man and leaves his costume in the trash, from Amazing Spider-Man #50.
