Classic BATMAN Series Gets Home Video Release Date, Plus San Diego Comic-Con Panel!

Although it was announced earlier this year that 1966-68 Batman television series was finally coming to home video after decades of legal entanglements between Warner Brothers (who own the Batman property) and Twentieth Century Fox (who produced the show back in the day) it is only now we are beginning to get actual details. Warner Bros. has released a sizzle reel of the show, remastered in high definition for the first time. Batman: The Complete Series will hit in the  November 2014 timeframe, conveniently in time for the holidays. The series will come to Blu-ray, DVD, and in HD Digital Download as well.  The set will include all 120 episodes, and a host of new special features. Adam West and Burt Ward have confirmed recording commentaries for the show, but there are certain to be a lot of other new extras for series, as this was such an iconic show; the original Batman series was a huge pop culture moment in its day–there’s even a saying that you can sum of sixties pop culture with “the three B’s- The Beatles, Bond, and Batman.”  That’s pretty stellar company to be in.

In order to promote this long awaited release, Warner Brothers is holding a panel celebrating the series with Adam West, Burt Ward, and Julie Newmar all in attendance at the San Diego Comic Con in a few weeks time. The panel will be held Thursday, July 24 from 6:00-7:00pm in Hall H, and will include looks at the special features, more details on the project, and a Q&A with the three actors who of course played Batman, Robin, and Catwoman on the show. No idea yet who will be moderating the panel, but if I were a betting man, I’d put my money on Batman ’66 superfan (and personal friend of Adam West) Ralph Garman. If that’s happens, well then ya heard it here first folks!

Check out the “sizzle reel” below for Batman: The Complete Series.
