Clark Gregg Comments on Possible Coulson Appearances in DAREDEVIL and AVENGERS

With all the news that’s gone down lately regarding various Marvel Studios projects, you’d imagine the last thing the blockbuster machine would want right now is more speculation regarding future properties. However, the always excellent Clark Gregg couldn’t help but spill just a little bit regarding his desire to appear in the upcoming string of Netflix series coming from Marvel Television.

In an interview with Movie Pilot for his new film, Trust Me, Gregg stated the following when asked if Coulson would be appearing in Daredevil or any of the Defenders saga: “I’d be really disappointed if I don’t get to show up in New York for Daredevil, or Iron Fist was a huge favorite of mine in comic books as a kid. I’ve had more than my share so I shouldn’t be greedy but it would be a huge geekout moment for me if I got to meet Daniel Rand.” Considering the end of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’s freshman season, it’s entirely possible from a story stand-point for Coulson to head to NY to make sure everything’s on the up-and-up surrounding the man without fear. Since his goal is to re-build S.H.I.E.L.D., certainly that would involve some grunt work at some point, right?

In regard to a possible appearance in Avengers: Age of Ultron, Gregg was quick to squash any rumors while still giving fans a glimmer of hope, something he does quite well at this point: “I don’t think so. I think I would have heard about it by now, but I must say as a qualifier, the only way I ever hear about stuff like that is I get a weird phone message with not the right number of numbers on it and somebody says, ‘We need to talk to you.’”

So there you have it. Coulson in Avengers 2: no. Coulson in Daredevil, hopeful optimism. We can live with that. And if you want to hear more Clark Gregg sweetness, check him out on the Nerdist podcast.
