Christopher Walken To Play Captain Hook In NBC’s Live PETER PAN Musical

When The Sound of Music Live! became a ratings monster for NBC, it was no surprise the network was quick to announce plans for another live musical in 2014, this one being that of a production of the classic, Peter Pan. However, since that time, little has been known about the upcoming live broadcast, especially in regard to its cast. But that changes today as the first cast member attached to the project has been revealed thanks to The Hollywood Reporter:

According to the outlet’s report, NBC has cast Christopher Walken in the role of Captain Hook for the broadcast.

Talk about go big to go home. Of course there were questions of how NBC was going to top the performance of Carrie Underwood, and, well, if nothing else, Walken is surely a step up in the topping yourself category. The report also stated that the network attempted to go to Kristen Bell for Peter Pan, but the actresses’ commitment to House of Lies kept her out of the running. Bummer, that would have also been a cool bit of casting.

“He’s one of the most unique actors in our business,” said NBC President Robert Greenblatt. “He might really just be a song and dance man at heart. … This might be the first tap dancing Captain Hook you’ve ever seen.”

Well, we’re on board, all you had to say was “tap dancing Captain Hook”

And, in case you’re worried about Walken’s skill (which you shouldn’t be), we offer you this:
