Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2
Hyperbole is the most overplayed hand in Hollywood’s game. But Chris Pratt is such an affable, lovable, and, thus far, honest guy that it’s hard not to believe him when he sings the praises of next year’s sequel to his blockbuster Guardians of the Galaxy in the Toronto Sun.
“It’s a fabulous script,” says Pratt. “I think it’s going to be — I’m not using hyperbole, here – I think it’s going to be the biggest spectacle movie of all time… I’m fortunate. I’m fortunate in so many ways. I couldn’t count the ways, even if I tried. To be part of Guardians of the Galaxy is to be part of a franchise that really is so totally different. It’s new and exciting and unlike anything people had seen before. There are a lot of superheroes out there, but I think we do something a little different. The genesis of these characters was in the Marvel Universe but we do something a little different, more cosmic, with Guardians of the Galaxy.â€
Hey, at least Pratt sounds more realistic than Mark Wahlberg when he proclaimed Transformers “the most iconic franchise in movie history.”
The Edge of Seventeen

The Flash
The Flash movie has gained a new cast member in the form of Billy Crudup (pictured above in Rudderless). The actor will play Barry Allen’s dad (portrayed by original live-action Flash star John Wesley Shipp on the CW TV show). Let’s all hope this turns out better than the last time Crudup starred in a Zack Snyder-produced movie, Watchmen.

Shin Godzilla
Toho has a new English-language trailer for its Godzilla reboot, Shin Godzilla (a.k.a. Godzilla Resurgence). Co-directed by Hideaki Anno and Shinji Higuchi, the film is the year’s highest grossing movie in Japan, and will have a limited run in American theaters from October 11 to October 18.
The Promise
Finally today… If you’re hungry for the kind of lush, epic historical drama that used to play in U.S. theaters (films like Reds, The Year of Living Dangerously, and The English Patient) you’d do well to check out the trailer for The Promise.
