Chris Pine. Chris Evans. Chris Hemsworth. Chris Pratt.
If you’re reading this site, there’s a better than average chance you know your sci-fi and superhero movies well enough to be able to tell the difference, and know which one was in which movie. No Chris-crossed questions are gonna make you, jump, jump, am I right? (Don’t make us explain that reference. If you don’t know it, you don’t need to.)
But the average Saturday Night Live viewer isn’t necessarily a Marvel nerd, so last night’s host Chris Pine had to clear it all up…in song.
Said song, of course, as he admits halfway through, is Billy Joel’s “Uptown Girl” with new lyrics, and one of many sketches last night that involved singing. If it was a stealth attempt to remind us that, aside from being Captain Kirk and Steve Trevor, he was the prince from Into the Woods, well, mission accomplished. The entire episode at times felt like a demo reel for whatever Disney’s next remake of a musical animated classic is. And hey, we can kinda picture him as a grown-up Pinocchio. Or maybe a live-action Buzz Lightyear (look, you know it’ll happen one day, so they might as well try to make it good).
No Wonder Woman spoof, though. I guess we have to assume Kate McKinnon didn’t have a Gal Gadot impression she was raring to do.
Are you able to keep your Chrisses straight, even when two of them play World War veterans named Steve? Pine for your favorite in comments below.
