When it comes to Chris Evans, the first question on all our minds is: What will become of Steve Rogers, and therefore the title of Captain America, in the as-yet-unnamed fourth Avengers film? The second is: What will Evans do next… aside from star as a cop on Broadway? Now we have our answer, and it just might be relevant to your interestsâheâs leading the cast of District 9 director Neill Blomkampâs latest movie, Greenland.
Greenland was announced over the weekend at the Cannes Film Market. It follows a family as they navigate their new lives in the midst of a natural disaster. Given Evansâ history of playing characters struggling to survive in varying degrees of disastrous situations and settingsâsee the train in Snowpiercer, outer space in Sunshine, and the mid-zeroes Fantastic Four movies for more informationâa Blomkamp movie seems like a potentially great fit. And while Blomkampâs post-District 9 films have been a bit of a mixed bag, what little we know of Greenland sounds promising. If nothing else, having Evans anchor the cast is a step in the right direction.
Speaking of âwhat little we know,â there is no set release date for Greenland, and principal photography wonât begin until late fall or early winter. That means itâs hard to say how soon weâll see or hear anything concrete about it. Regardless, looking forward to a Blomkamp movie is a worthy distraction from dreading the onscreen loss of Steve Rogers and placing bets on whether Bucky or Sam will take up the Captain America mantle.
