League of Gods, starring the likes of Jet Li, Fan Bingbing,Tony Leung, and Independence Day: Resurgence‘s Angelababy is opening in China next Friday, and it’s not too late to start clamoring for a release here too. Because this movie just looks amazingly nuts in the best ways possible.

According to Deadline, it’s being billed as a “Chinese X-Men.” Per the supposed source material, the 16th-century novel Investiture of the Gods (good title change—I am going to have to look up “investiture” in a moment), it’s the story of the overthrow of King Zhou, last ruler of the Shang dynasty, except with more gods and demons added to make the history way cooler.

But as far as I can tell, it’s a bunch of ghost kids, a terrifying CGI baby, a tentacle woman, a golden snake with a venus flytrap for a head, a colorful bat-winged guy, a plant version of Mike Wazowski from Monsters Inc., and Skeletor on Panthor, all fighting electricity and a giant crab. There’s probably more to it than that, but I really don’t need more. Already sold. Watch and tell me if you agree:

China gets all our biggest movies; it only seems fair that we get theirs. C’mon, Distant Horizon—we need to know what is actually happening in those scenes we just saw. Even if it contradicts my total guesswork in the end.
