This June, the critically acclaimed Briggs Land returns with its second volume, which comes on the heels of the announcement that the series is being developed for television by AMC. Brian Wood and Mark Chater’s crime drama is soon to be the series everyone is talking about, and if you read the first volume you know why.
In the comic, Briggs Land is roughly a hundred square miles of wilderness that houses the largest secessionist movement in the US of A. Given the current political climate, there’s something very immediate and relevant about this book. It’s all about trust, family, war, and betrayal. Right from the get-go, the series was ripe for adaptation, so it’s no wonder that comic-friendly AMC sunk its claws into it. Briggs Land could easily become their next Walking Dead.
The new volume, titled Briggs Land: Lone Wolves, returns readers this world of darkness and conflict, and we can’t wait to jump back in. We’re very excited to be exclusively unveiling the regular and variant covers for issues 3, 4, and 5.
Artist Matthew Woodson provides the regular covers, which are in themselves gorgeous. The cover for issue 4 is especially stunning, with the muscle car, wilderness, and machine gun. It looks like a brilliant movie poster. Seriously, just take that thing and set it as your phone wallpaper right now.
The variant covers are provided by Jeffrey G. Jones, Robert Sammelin, and Ben Oliver. They are all pretty great, but holy cow is that Jeffrey G. Jones amazing. It grabs your attention instantly and tells a story all by itself. One look at that thing and you know this is a series you should be reading. The Ben Oliver cover for issue 5 is equally rad. Dark Horse Comics clearly knows how to play the variant cover game.
