Between Instagram teasers and 25 fresh collectible covers from Empire Magazine, the marketing campaign of Fox’s upcoming X-Men: Days of Future Past is in full swing. But they’re only just getting started. It seems those covers weren’t the only thing the famed film magazine is offering X-fans for their eyeballs. Today, they released four brand new stills from the film.
There seems to be a little something for everyone here: bone-claw Wolverine, floating Magneto, Mystique (perhaps) about to commit the assignation that causes the downfall of civilization, an excellent group shot of some of the gang in the future, yup, this flick sure is shaping up nicely. It’s also a safe bet the marketing campaign won’t be slowing up anytime soon with the Super Bowl only a few days away. Surely there will be another spot coming up, as well as a new trailer.
Personally, I have to say my favorite still here is bone-claw Logan. The Wolverine was so good that I can’t wait to see what happens next with future, as well as past him.
It truly seems, based on the currently available material, Singer has pulled off what seemed impossible. Days of Future Past might actually end up being one of the best films of the summer.

Joe I’m not going to argue with you any more because I think you have bad taste. That’s ok. Most people have bad taste and they’re allowed to like what they like… but to say Iron Man 3 is a worse film than X-Men: The Last Stand is ridiculous. So here’s my final statement:
I don’t really like either movie, but Iron Man 3, I can watch because it’s a crowd pleaser in the best way possible. It’s script is really tight, it takes it’s time building it’s villain and then rips away everything comic book nerds are waiting for which was a great idea and executed pretty well. It does bring up a ton of questions about what the 10 Rings really are, but the new one shot, All Hail the King is going to fix that right up.
The Mandarin isn’t a great villain and people who think he is don’t really know what they’re talking about. Iron Man wasn’t even a popular comic book character until the first movie.
Your entire argument seems to be based on what you like, and that’s fine, but you can’t speak for the majority of people when you say “Iron Man 3 is far worse than X3”. Most people do not think that way. That’s pretty much just you and a few other crazies.
Astonishing X-Men is one of the reasons why I want the series to go back to Marvel. That run was flawless, it was modern but kept the sensibilities of the original and it wasn’t a chore to watch.
Sorry I did know he was busy with something. And to say time travel is out of place and a gimmick for the X-Men when that is most of their history. I also was talking about Days of Present Future for the costume style and more of the future sentinel for the days of future past for the concept of adaptability. AND if it did go back to Marvel I’m sure Bryan Singer would still be on X-Men and Whedon would prob just be producer in the style he has been. Also, Marvel has been a disappointment as of late in the movie department. Iron Man 3 was the worse than X3 by far. That was worse..ok Spiderman 3 was worse. To mock an arch villain like that. Singer is a big X-Men fan and his casting input has been spot on for the characters. And I like the darker story lines. Marvel is going to show you a happy fun Ant Man and avoid the marvelous nasty man that is truly hank pym. They also went light on Starks depravity in Iron Man 2 and 3. This is why Dark Knight was so awesome. If you want them to go the route of “fun” as with first class for the rest of the series, all I have to say is Batman & Robin! Remember how batman went “fun”. The Days of future Past and the X-Force are some of the most popular X-Men runs there ever were. And to say something isn’t like it was in the comics, first off every single series by a new writer for the comics gives everyone a new look (Wolverine has over a dozen), second even the animated shows adjusted from the comics look and stories to make something new. And if you want to see what X-Men would look like with Joss Whedon in charge, Astonishing X-Men!
Joe, you’re not making any sense.
Bryan Singer had nothing to do with Man of Steel. He was directing Jack the Giant Slayer, that monumentally terrible movie that was delayed a year because it was so awful. He directed Superman Returns, yet another movie that was terrible and nearly flopped. That’s why he didn’t direct X-Men: The Last Stand.
Bryan Singer hasn’t made a good movie in 12 years. He just hasn’t. When he makes small intimate films like The Usual Suspects or Apt Pupil they’re wonderful. When he does big movies like Valkyrie they’re barely passable as cinema.
The costumes here don’t make any sense and are NOT closer to the comics. I have Days of Future Past in my hands right now. In the future all the X-Men that are alive wear green jump suits because they’re prisoners, with the exception of Wolverine who wears cargo pants and a leather jacket with a fur collar.
So right away your premise that it’s closer is off. They should be rocking civvies or prisoner jump suits.
As for X-Force, yeah I’ve heard of it, I have a weekly comics pull and the relaunch of X-Force was one of my monthly buys and I like the black costume design. But that’s not what this is. This is the X-Men… not their hit squad. There’s no color, there’s no fun.
First Class was an attempt to bring some fun and life to this franchise and get away from the weight that had bogged it down so much. The Wolverine felt the same way, in that Logan was finally letting go of some demons and could be our favorite canuckle head again.
Instead they go with one of the most over rated and dark series that they had left to adapt because what else is there… another reboot?
X-Men needs to go back to Marvel Studios proper so we can get some people who understand this franchise. I read X-Men comics and then I look at the movies and I don’t recognize them as the same thing. Cyclops is dead (For good it seems), the stories make no sense in the continuity of what they’ve already established, this horrible attempt at time travel to fix things seems really out of place and like a gimmick they would have tried in the 90s to fix some errors or retcon some things (Like Flashpoint did with DC a while back).
I just hope it’s better than it looks. Because right now I don’t want to see this movie.
So you didn’t like First Class? Because Singer wrote and produced that. Only reason he didn’t direct was because of Man of Steel. The black is the post-apocalyptic future version of the X-Men (Which is close to Days of Present Future and Days of Future Past comic arcs) so your comment makes no sense as it is true to the originals with little tweaks to make the story work for today. Also have you even heard of X-Force?! Those costumes are black for stealth missions which when your being hunted by sentinels I don’t think yellow and blue would blend in much.
sorry but I don’t see anything exciting here. This entire movie seems like it’s stuck in the past. The costume design, the story, the effects, the lack of understanding of the characters… It’s all a big mistake.
When Fox made X-Men 15 years ago it was coming off of The Matrix and Blade and other dark and gritty sci-fi comic-booky movies. The leather was in, it was cool, it was what worked at the time. 15 years later that’s not what’s working in comic book movies.
Marvel Studios proved that the costumes work. The Captain America suit, Iron Man, Black Widow, Thor… the entire SHIELD agency on the helicarrier in The Avengers… these more true to the comics costumes work on the big screen with just small tweaks.
The fact FOX cut the scene where Wolverine gets his classic Brown and Yellow costume with the mask at the end of The Wolverine shows that Fox doesn’t understand what fans want. I want to see Wolverine in that costume!
I want to see Ice Man completely covered in ice, with shards popping off of him like in the comics. I want to see Rogue in the green with the bolero leather jacket flying around.
OH and the wig on Jennifer Lawrence and how it just seems to be sitting on top of her head looks so awkward… like a weird hair helmet.
I don’t think we’re looking at the best movie of the summer. I don’t think we’re even looking at the best comic book movie of the summer. I think Bryan Singer has proved with his past few movies that he doesn’t really have what it takes to be a big action director.
He hasn’t made a good movie since X-Men 2 and take another look at it and is it as good as you remember? No. Because Marvel Studios is doing it right and Fox doesn’t have a grasp on how to make a comic book movie…
