Check Out an Explosive New SUICIDE SQUAD Promo Video

We have ourselves a video-palooza in today’s Movie Morsels! Yup, we’re packed to the gills with footage, clips, previews, and promos for some of the most anticipated upcoming films, including Star Trek Beyond, Suicide Squad, Vin Diesel‘s xXx: The Return of Xander Cage, and much more. Sooooo… Let’s get morselin’!

Suicide Squad

Who’s that lady pulling the Suicide Squad’s strings? Why, it’s Amanda Waller, of course! As fearsome in her own way as the Joker himself, the Puppet Master of Task Force X is featured in the film’s latest extended promo video, along with the Squad’s most understated member, Rick Flag…

Please, dear God, let this film be half as good as these promos make it look! Pretty please?! Less than three weeks remain until Suicide Squad‘s debut on August 5, 2016, in 2D, 3D and IMAX 3D.

Star Trek Beyond

Paramount has just released the fourth and final Star Trek Beyond trailer. Marking the official 50th anniversary adventure of this most venerable of science-fiction franchises, the film has a lot of weight on its shoulders. But most of what I’ve heard from folks who’ve seen it has been quite positive, with some going so far as to say it might be the best odd-numbered Trek since 1984’s Star Trek III: The Search for Spock (!). Needless to say, I’m trying very hard not set my expectations too high for when I see it tomorrow night at its Comic-Con premiere.

xXx: The Return of Xander Cage

Vin Diesel is a social media beast, and he’s just been let out of his cage! Or should I say he’s letting his Cage out? That’s right, Mr. D has a new video tease on his Facebook page of his next actioner xXx: The Return of Xander Cage. And it’s blissfully free of any form of subtlety or nuance whatsoever…

Jason Bourne

Bourne

Hey, speaking of high-octane action movies… Did you know that Matt Damon has just 25 lines of dialogue in the new Jason Bourne? In a new interview with The Guardian, the actor explains the decision, which gives new meaning to the phrase “strong silent type”…

“Well, I’ve done it three times,” says Damon. “In the first movie, the Marie Kreutz character is still alive, so Bourne has a sounding board and he’s more confused about who he is and a lot more chatty. Once she dies in the first act of the second movie, it’s really a very lonely character. And we talked about that mostly on the second one. I remember [screenwriter] Tony [Gilroy] writing me an email saying, ‘You do realize what this means? You do realize you’re not going to talk in this movie.’ I said, ‘No, I love that.’”

Our friends at Slashfilm calculate this means Damon will receive $21,429 per word.

The Edge of Seventeen

Finally today, we have the red band trailer for Hailee Steinfeld’s coming-of-age comedy The Edge of Seventeen. Woody Harrelson looks to be in especially uproarious form in the September 30 release, which costars Haley Lu Richardson, Blake Jenner, and Kyra Sedgwick. Enjoy!
