In less than 24 hours, Charlie Cox will make his second bow as Daredevil when the new season of his Netflix series drops 13 more episodes for us to binge. The first season of Daredevil was so well-received that many fans have openly wondered when Marvel’s Man Without Fear could possibly appear on the big screen alongside the Avengers. Apparently, this is also something that Cox has thought about.
“Some people have said that they wonder about, based on the tone the show, how Matt would fit in with the Avengers,” related Cox in an interview with ComicBook.com. “I was reading Civil War the other day, and Matt Murdock… is kind of an ass. He’s in the back, standing around grumpy a lot of the time, and every now and again, he just says ‘Well, we’re not doing that’ or something to that effect, and I’m like, ‘That’s the character, we’re fine.’ So tonally, with Matt I think weâre right on point and heâd be a perfect fit in the larger MCU.”
Assuming Cox is reading the first Civil War miniseries by Mark Millar and Steve McNiven and not an advance copy of Civil War II, then it’s actually not Daredevil in that book. It’s Iron Fist pretending to be Daredevil, because Matt Murdock was in jail at the time during Ed Brubaker’s run on the Daredevil comic.
That said, Daredevil does have some comic book history with the Avengers. He was offered membership early in Brian Michael Bendis’ New Avengers run, and years later, he accepted the offer and joined Luke Cage‘s team, which included Iron Fist, Doctor Strange, and Spider-Man. So, there is a precedent for Daredevil joining the Avengers, but Luke Cage has a deeper history with the team.
