CELEBRITY DEATHMATCH Gets Reanimated at MTV2

In an age where celebrity Twitter feuds are considered legitimate news, it should come as a surprise to no one that MTV2 has decided to reanimate its popular stop-motion animated series, Celebrity Deathmatch, once again for these confusing modern times.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, MTV2 has requested a pilot order for the animated comedy, a full eight years after its second revival that spanned from 2005 to 2007. Its original run began in 1998 and went until 2002, running 75 episodes. It’s fifth season drew 2.5 million viewers and was MTV2’s highest-rated season premiere ever. This latest reboot would technically be considered its seventh season.

In this latest iteration, the series’ original creator—Eric Fogel—is back on board, and he’s brought Chris McCarthy and Paul Ricci on to executive produce, too. And don’t you fret, those bloody, outrageous physical battles between claymated celebrities will be there.

For those of you who may not recall the gory glory that was Celebrity Deathmatch, allow us to reintroduce you to its particular brand of chaos and madness with some clips! After all, we could write a bunch of words to try and explain it but ultimately, this is one you have to see to believe.

Like the time they made Hanson and The Spice Girls claw at each other:

Or the time the two kings of mid-aughts rap-rock went at each other’s throats:

Needless to say, there’s probably already a long, long list of people that should go at it in the ring. Chris Brown versus Justin Bieber, anyone?

Who would you have fight it out on Celebrity Deathmatch? Let us hear ’em in the comments.
