Brown Sugar Wookiee Cookies
-makes 24

you’ll need:
Star Wars wookiee cookie cutter available from Williams-Sonoma

ingredients:
3 cups all-purpose flour
– 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
– 1 teaspoon baking powder
– pinch of salt
– 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
– 1-1/2 cups brown sugar
– 1 egg
– 1-½ teaspoons vanilla
– black icing
– white icing

In a medium bowl whisk together the flour, cinnamon, baking powder and salt. Set aside.

In the bowl of an electric mixer cream the butter and sugar until combined.

Add the egg and vanilla, then slowly add in the dry ingredients until the dough comes together. The dough will form quickly, and when it starts to pull away from the bowl, it’s ready.

Split the dough into two and wrap in plastic wrap. Chill until you are ready to use.

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Prep baking sheets with silpats.

Roll out the dough to about 1/4 inch thick. Use your cutter to cut out the shapes and transfer onto the prepped baking sheets.

Bake for 10 minutes, let cool on a wire rack.

Once the cookies are completely cool use a #3 tip to pipe the eyes and nose in black icing.

With the white icing, pipe a zig zag pattern with a #2 tip for the wookiee’s teeth.

Rice Krispies Treats Wreaths
-makes 12

ingredients:
– 3 Tablespoons unsalted butter
– 1 (10 oz) package marshmallows, approximately 40
– green food gel dye
– 6 cups Rice Krispies cereal
– red hot candies
– thin red licorice

Prep a baking sheet with a silpat. Set aside.

In large pot, melt the butter over low heat. Add the marshmallows and green food coloring. Stir until completely melted and the green has been incorporated throughout. Remove from heat.

Fold in the cereal. Stir until well coated.

Press the mixture flat onto the prepped baking sheet. Let cool.

Use a 3-¼” biscuit cutter to cut out rounds from the cereal, leaving space to cut a one inch border around the hole, creating a circular wreath.

Place the wreath over the Wookiee Cookie and decorate with red hots and a licorice bow.

My mom came up with the Rice Krispies Treat wreaths part almost 30 years ago, but hers included a bit of mint to tweak the flavor, and they were hand-formed into rings rather than “wasting” a bunch by rolling and punching them out.
