This is pretty much the coolest thing. From the minds of Zack Snyder, director of Man of Steel, and Bruce Timm, the man behind the amazing DC Comics Animated programs and movies, comes a two-minute animated love letter to Superman and all of his many incarnations over the past 75 years. Beginning with that fateful cover of him lifting a car on Action Comics, the short takes us through the Fleischer cartoons, the George Reeves Adventures of television show, Superfriends, the Christopher Reeve era, Timm’s own television program, and this summer’s big screen adaptation as well as traversing some of his most memorable moments from the comics, fighting villains like Lex Luthor, Brainiac, Bizarro, Mr. Mxyzptlk, and his eventual murderer, Doomsday.
It’s a short that is surprisingly thorough and has nods to many other incarnations as well, if you look in the backgrounds. Superman is the world’s first comic book superhero and, it seems, is still just as relevant as he was when he premiered in 1938. What’s your favorite Superman movie/TV show/comic incarnation? Which theme music do you like the best? Let us know in the comments, yo. (Unnecessary rhyme; I apologize.)
What the heck happened to Dean Cain and Gerard Christopher?
That was brilliant . If you are a true fan it will bring a tear to your eyes .
You had me with just the Superman (1978) soundtrack! 🙂
