Ever since we premiered Fever High’s extremely catchy retro dance track, “Tantalized”, I have been yearning for more coruscating new wave vibes from the NYC-based duo. Lucky for me (and all y’all), ahead of dropping their forthcoming All Work EP, the band’s Reni Lane and Anna Nordeen were kind enough to curate a Car Tunes and Cartoons playlist full of the late-’80s and early-’90s dance gems that inspired their sound. I have honestly been bumping this nonstop since they shared it, and I am certain that you will too. Dive in:
Discussing how the playlist elucidates the band’s identity, the band explained, “This is a little blend of songs we individually contributed to that represent pieces of Fever High. You got your synths, your pop, your funk, boogie-woogie and your rock. Pop it in and let your hips win. ”
For their cartoon contribution to mix, I would suggest that you revisit the featured image of this post and then take a second look at this weirdly sexual banana-alien interaction. It is definitely one of the stranger illustrations that we’ve had for Car Tunes and Cartoons, and consequently, one of my favorites. Once you are done gawking, you can peep the cover of Fever High’s debut EP below. Feel like they should have just committed to the banana/alien thing, but hey, I’m no graphic designer.
